Whoohooo, moving onto step two!

Happy Saturday friends!

My weekly illustrations all fit on one page this week:

It's fun to use the macro lens on my iphone camera, the detail of some of the itty bitty flowers in the grass is impressive:

Bluet:

I drew Henbit last week, such a pretty little thing, the flower petals kind of reminds me of an iris:

This is what the moss is doing in the forest here at our rental house:

And have you ever seen such a beautiful dandelion? Look at all the little curlies!

FIRE UPDATE:

Do you guys remember the 1980s movie The Money Pit? Remember how they kept telling them it would take two weeks to finish? That's what life has been feeling like for a while.

Remember how the contents mitigation company told us at then end of February that they would be done emptying out the house by March 7th?

Yeah…so that didn’t happen. At the beginning of the week there were still odds and ends all over the house and the bonus room (it was our storage room but will become a guest room!) was still packed full.

But guess what? They did it! By Thursday evening, all the boxes were out! OMG! A miracle! It only took 11 weeks! πŸ™„ I had to go back to my blog and see how long they said it would take: 8 weeks but later one of the guys said 8-10 weeks so really, they are only a week late. I can't be annoyed about that :-)

I suppose in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter because the insurance company only just this week approved the cost of the replacement windows for ManChild’s room. You know, the ones that have an 8-10 week lead time. So, we’re out of the house for at least the next two months. I want my house back!

This was the bonus room Friday morning:

With so much stuff jammed in there, I had forgotten how big it was. All that old carpet is coming up and hopefully hardwoods going down to match the rest of the house. It will be a guest room maybe. We've also talked about putting in bigger skylights at the end (see those two little squares?) and two more under where I'm taking the picture from, which would make it a lot brighter which means, maybe it will be my room. My room for the past two years (don't worry, Brad and I still adore each other!) has been in the loft, and is open to the living room. We've talked about putting in two doors and walls for those two years. Brad thinks it would be a lot easier to put in 4 skylights and sheetrock the ceiling of the bonus room and create my bedroom there rather than retrofitting the loft. Hmmm... In the rental house I have walls and a door and after not having them for so long, it feels pretty decadent lol.

When I brought I Love Lucy into the house, she made a bee line to my office where she and I would greet our neurofeedback clients, she was looking out the window and wagging like mad! Awwwwww...I told her we would be back there soon :-)

A couple of weeks ago ManChild and I went through the house to take all the nails out of the walls. If anything was left, the painters would leave them there so we could rehang everything where it was. No thank you. I'm looking forward to rearranging photos and art around the house. There was this huge, railroad-spike-of-a-nail in the wall from a previous owner:

I tried getting it out, ManChild tried getting it out but all we were doing was mangling the wall. B-Rad came in, stuck a piece of 2x4 under the hammering part of the hammer and with that leverage, it came right out without destroying the wall further! Lesson learned!

I found these bananas in the pantry, they were good when we left January 2nd. Who knew this is what they did as they get old. They look like huge vanilla beans:

Thursday sunrise at the ranch:

5 years ago this week, I closed down the ranch to keep my family and my clients safe from covid. It seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago.

In my mind "BC" no longer stands for Before Christ but instead, Before Covid!

COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE:

The first meeting is tomorrow, Sunday, March 16th, 2pm at the ranch. Looks like it will be a rainy day, but warm. Bring an umbrella so we can walk around and talk about garden sites, and a camp chair, so we can go talk in the barn after. Looking forward to it! If you're coming and don't yet belong to the Nextdoor group, text me 720-635-7015
