Pittsburgh Vacation! (newsletter)

I woke up this morning to the sound of snow plows and snow blowers across the street, guess where I am? Pittsburgh! This week I'm visiting my brother Michael and his partner Nic. They also moved in 2021 and did something huge—bought their first house! Michael has always been a wanderlust kind of guy, he's moved A LOT, so he's always rented. It was a big step to buy a house!

I'll be returning to NC on Monday the 31st and I just realized that as of January 31st, 2022 Brad will have been retired 2 years. What I remember about that time are his last stressful days of work making sure his clients were ok, planning a huge retirement party for the 31st, and talk of a pandemic coming.

That party was the last we had at our Colorado ranch. I'm thankful we just squeezed that in and we had all of our friends over for a night of fun!

Here are the things I've written in the past two weeks, I was told by several that they never saw last week's blog posts because the links were buried in the newsletter! Ack!

This week:

We've all felt the day to day "pandemic anxiety"—where we worry when we see a grocery shelf go bare, about school, our kid's social lives, our social lives, which variant is around the corner, if our masks are good enough, I could fill paragraphs with the worry.

This week I'm in Pittsburgh visiting my brother and I have to say, I had some anxiety leaving the farm!

Tuesday evening arrived and I was happily finishing packing, checking off my list, and just getting it done when I felt this dread and then pressure in my chest.

And last week:

14 year old ManChild wanders out into living room, eyes big: Uh...I was leaving my bedroom door open so my room would be warmer and a mouse just ran in.

Me: WHAAAAAAT???

Brad just grins and keeps prepping dinner.

Me: Are you sure? Where did it go? Where did it come from? Show me!

ManChild and I walk into his room which looks like a bomb has gone off in it, as usual: It came from this way and ran in. It went toward my bathroom so I...

<crinkle crinkle>

We both look at each other with big eyes.

Me: You heard that right?

ManChild: Yep

This week a woman and her boyfriend came to pick up the giclee print she won in one of my weekly giveaways, she happened to live in town so she got to come visit the farm.

While visiting the animals we talked about all kinds of things, Reiki, art, neurofeedback, animal communication, and more. At one point she asked me, "Are you a 'reader' too?'" Meaning, do you get information from the Universe, God, the other side, angels, etc (depending on your beliefs) and I found myself automatically downplaying...(click here to keep reading the story!)
