You know you're getting old when...😂

Happy Saturday friends!

You know you're getting old when American Eagle sends you your three new pairs of jeans and you think the unhemmed edges are a quality control issue...

As I was searching on how to return them, it occurred to me to check the listing again. Yep, turns out, they did it on purpose. Not a mention of it in the description, just have to look closely at the hems before you order. This is my PSA to all of us Golden Girls 😂😜! Also, they work either way, hemmed or not. Just trim off the long bits after washing/drying.

THE RANCH:

Another little illustration from my life :-)

Needless to say, I'm kinda enjoying my deer drawings :-)

I went out one evening after chores and watering and found this:

Looks so innocent, yes? These two are in the goat pasture! Gack. My donkeys are not particularly trustworthy with goats. I must have left the goat gate ajar and they took advantage of it. No one was screaming and tearing around but when I walked into the horse pasture to go fix it, Blu, Sweetness, and Cash came running over to me like, "OMG! Mom! Look! Ummmm they're in trouble!"

When I went inside the goat barn, the goats were pinned to the back wall, wide eyed. Poor things.

Sigh. Our fences are 40 years old and some sections of them are not up to itchy horses:

I've been getting up early to water the gardens before the sun starts scorching our droughty earth. I Love Lucy is not thrilled with the new time:

But Sweetness is super excited! If you remember, he and Rayn were trained to be loose on the property with me, so when he does this, I can't refuse:

And of course I've been creating in the garden some more this week! The bed I created two weekends ago wasn't going to be big enough, so I'm slowly adding to it so I can plant more. I already know that some of the stuff in there will be moving in February next year but that's okay, I've created a map so I know where everything is! Eventually this bed will reach to the driveway:

More tractoring, yay!

But now it's a million degrees, so all I can manage is watering until the heatwave subsides.

Everything is doing well and that makes me happy! As long as I'm outside by 6am and can be done watering by 7am just as the sun is coming over the distant tree line, I'm okay. Sweltering in the humidity but at least it isn't humid and 100º (literally) at the same time. It's sweet to hear the birds chattering and singing bright and early (see the video of the cardinal at the top).

The giant bed of volunteer pumpkins is thriving and there are 5 types intermingled. I love how they look in all their sprawling glory and best of all, the deer won't touch them:

They are young yet so it's hard to know what they all are until we are further along but here are a few. Look at those curly tendrils:

I think these might just be those little decorative gourds. If you've never read It's Decorative Gourd Season Motherfuc*ers, click here, you're welcome!

Maybe an actual pumpkin??:

Acorn squash I think:

And LOOK! A day lily actually flowered! The only reason the deer didn't eat this one to the ground is because it came up in a big patch of lemon balm and they don't like smelly things:

I found another in the bank of soon to be flowering yellow cannas along one side of the pond too:

Speaking of banks of flowers, our lantana are blooming! This whole area is huge, maybe 40 feet long? They are still fairly small at 2.5 feet high, they will get to be 5-6 feet high later in the summer:

So pretty right?

The gardenias are about three quarters done now, I'm looking forward to transplanting a bunch of them to the front of the house in the fall. I was a little worried that they would all die when we had all the trees taken down last year but it turns out they like the 7am-3pm sun. Perfect:

And the little cannas that I transplanted from Mom's garden after she crossed, are now much taller than I am and shooting out flower buds at the top for the first time. I didn't know there were cannas that got this big!:

Tree frog!

I went outside Wednesday night after Women's Circle and found a scratchy-scratch threesome:

The Great Plant Migration happened on Friday evening:

I've never done this before but Mom always did. Last year I bought my big ficus on Marketplace and before I brought it in, I wanted to make sure it was healthy so I left it under the old Japanese maple in the front. It doubled its leaves in about 6 weeks. So this year I decided to bring my plants out but will have to do it in stages because I have so many.

When a client comes into the pasture, "Hello! Hello! Welcome!":

Everyone started with us during this session (pic used with permission) but Blu was the one who felt the need to stay and pinned ears at anyone who interrupted his healing session. This is why, in my mind, it's so important to leave them loose to come and go as they please. They each have their own way to work, sometimes working up close and other times working from afar, and sometimes they need to work by themselves. It's always interesting to watch what they do:

HOW TO WORK WITH ME:

Equine Partnered Coaching! With horses, without horses, in-person, or online, your choice.

Neurofeedback Train your brain to calm and ease. The most common response I hear about neurofeedback is, "I'm so much less reactive in my life!" It really does smooth out the sharp spikes. Super helpful if your world feels harsh and spiky right now.

Reiki Another way to facilitate relaxation, calm, healing. If the weather is nice, you can choose inside, outside, or outside in the herd.

And of course Women's Circles! The Wednesday circle has a waiting list, I will add you to it if you'd like. Newer people do indeed get in occasionally, as sometimes the people higher on the list end up with upcoming vacations, too busy at work, or just life is life-ing stuff.
