Happy Saturday friends!
It's that time of year again, another trip around the sun and I'm 55! Wow! In honor of my birthday, from August 23rd to September 23rd I'm offering half off neurofeedback for all new clients! $35 instead of $70! Call, text, or email me if you'd like to give it a try!
THE RANCH:
I'd like to reintroduce you to Poppy, our 2019 buck that was born on our Colorado farm—he was special enough to be one of the ones shipped all the way to North Carolina. I was reminded recently that I could just get him surgically castrated (he has a leg abnormality that keeps us from breeding him anymore since we don't want to pass that on) and let him live with the girls. I went to my favorite Facebook group called Goat Tips and Tricks and asked about other folks who have castrated a buck. Seems that there are quite a few out there that do it for the same reason I'm considering it: sweetest goat in the world.
I was hoping to hear that later-in-life bucks that are castrated would stop peeing all over themselves to attract the girls. Apparently it's not 100% but it's pretty normal. Yay! So, I've got a call in to the vet to see how it all works.
He's always been a favorite on the farm:
He spent a lot of time hanging out on my shoulder when he was a baby:
And he always knew he was special and everyone loved him. Here he is, not being at all concerned about the adult goats around him:
Wish us luck that it all works out and he can be a part of the healing herd! It's coming into the rut and you can see the bottom of his beard and belly hair are all clumped together from peeing on them π Will look forward to giving him the hugs and kisses he deserves...after he's fixed lol!

We had some fun visitors this week. One evening I was driving home from an errand and was, for a split second, kinda freaked about more than my 3 equines in the upper pasture:
Until I realized it was just a couple of deer π
We've been having that kind of weather that makes me glad to be living here once again. Wednesday the high was 77, ohmygawwwwd...
It's early for fall weather and it probably won't last but I'm soaking in every minute I can!

Rosemary was tired of being in among the adult girls during a coaching session this week and jumped up out of the way:
The girl goats are heading towards their strongest heat of the year (Nigerian Dwarf girls come into heat every 21 days but it's strongest in the fall) so there is a lot of smashy face going on around here! Our biggest and oldest girl goat embodies both girl and boy energy and takes it upon herself to chase other girl goats who are in heat all around the barn, blubbering and yelling at them like a buck:

I know, I'm not supposed to find weeds pretty and I'm supposed to kill them all (or at least mow them down) but come on:
(And yes, all I do is mow them. I'm just not going to poison the ground, the ground water, my animals, or the wildlife. Can't do it.)

I Love Lucy is all ball all the time. "Throw it again?":
"One hundred times more?"
And the last thing on the ranch this week, still packed but at least it's clean and organized and I can see most of the floor! Ahhhhh...it's surprising how happy a clean pantry can make me:
THE MEMES:
All the comments said, "Yep, 'long jevity.'"
Or, "What in the world? That's crazy, it's pronounced 'lawn jevity' silly." I do the double G, you?
I am THE WORST about this:
And that's why I explained this tidbit on my favorite German Chocolate Cake recipe: Tempering the frosting: Once the egg yolks are whisked take a tablespoon of the hot butter mixture and whisk quickly into the eggs. Repeat this process with 8 tablespoons of hot butter mixture and then pour the eggs into the butter mix. This keeps you from having to strain this mixture through a fine mesh strainer (at best) or from having scrambled eggs (at worst).
I want to know the why!
And hello, it's not like he's chasing people around trying to hold their hand! You can see the sweet video here. I love that he talks about it, normalizes it and I can't wait to see them both in the new Fantastic Four!
