Happy 2024! 🍄

Happy Saturday friends!

I wrote a post earlier in the week about that strange time warp of a week between Christmas and New Year's that you can read here.

This is pretty much how I spent all week and anything that was asked of me, "Hey, you want to do Mexican tonight?" or whatever, this was how I reacted from my place in my recliner with my new, baby pink, super soft, 20 lb weighted blanket on top of me:

And then another post that was about Mary, baby Jesus, and women here. Just because the poem was interesting to me :-)

THE RANCH:

The donks come right over in the evening to be haltered and taken down to the lower pasture but the horses don't always so I have to go get them with the donkeys trailing behind like, "Well what the heck? I thought we were leaving!" (And yes, I wear my hat way down over my head like that because my forehead gets cold lol)

For the most part, winter in North Carolina is fall-like weather and still warm enough for little mushrooms to grow in the forest:

And speaking of Rayn, she was loose with me while I was doing chores one evening and came into the lower garage that we use as a barn currently. That's where we prep all their food. She caught me scooping food out so the 50 gallon barrels had their lids off but I managed to shoo her away before she stuffed her head into one! Can you imagine? An average horse's head weighs about 150 lbs, I don't think I could have moved her lol. But now the problem is, she knows... and she's super smart, she's going to file that info away for a time I'm not paying attention! The lids just set on top of the barrel, they aren't locked—I'm going to have to find the special pieces that lock those lids on I think...

I Love Lucy and I went to Shelley Lake in Raleigh for a little walk and she was so happy to be heading out for an adventure!

And look what I found waaaay in the back of the refrigerator! 🤢😂

Tiny Dancer on the right and her mom Alaska on the left—they're the same size now! (Dancer was born in spring of 2022.) Dancer seems heavier, I'm hoping she's pregnant. If so, she's about a month and a half into a five month pregnancy now. I talk to her everyday about how two girls on the small side of normal would be lovely with both being born in the easiest position please: one at a time and two front feet and a nose on top!

It's been a funny week filled with happiness to be getting back into the swing of things and seeing clients again, some sadness because without Mom, sadness is just a part of life now, and I saw this and it feels exactly like what I've been talking about with ManChild:

He says you can never let your guard down because there is always something horrible right around the corner and I say, when you're experiencing something horrible, at least you know something good is also right around the corner.

And then somehow I think of this meme that I just absolutely love with all of my heart:

And while the horrible still happens and Mom isn't here to make it better, she did give me a lot of tools to use to do it myself now, and help others who are going through the yuck too.

Also—isn't that a fabulous idea to do with a piece of furniture with a boo boo??? OMG! I would love this so much!
