Happy Saturday friends!
My week in illustrations:
FAVORITE THINGS FROM THE WEEK:
Margaux Kent owns Peg and Awl, they make beautiful supplies for artists. As I continue to work on rising out of the destruction right now, I loved this bit:You can read the whole article here.
A pretty, foggy morning at the farm this week. As it began to burn off, this appeared:
Fear
It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.
She looks back at the path she
has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests
and villages.
And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to
disappear forever.
but there is not other way.
The river can not go back.
Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.
The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s were the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into
the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.
-Khalil Gibran
Go find Beckett Johnson on Substack, you will thank me. Read a couple of my favorites here:
“I suffered, I learned, I changed.”
”It’s okay little one. You’re so loved.”

And finally, this article about low energy self care, written by Milk and Cookies

This dog! Her name is Ruby and she lives down the street. She gets loose about once a month and goes visiting—often in our neighborhood. She is a bull in a china shop and if you lean over to say hi—you’ll end up with her muzzle up your nose. She is such a character! She is often found and picked up in someone’s car and she pretty much always looks just like this: wild eyes and happy and so excited about her adventure!
And then there is perfect Princess Penelope, my brother’s dog:
FIRE UPDATE:
And now, mold in the crawlspace.
I fluctuate between wondering if I was a horrible person in another life and now I’m paying for it and being glad that it was caught now, not when our house was completely infested.
We are being told that no, the water from putting out the fire didn’t cause the mold, it was there before (independent contractor, nothing to do with insurance, we were asking for a quote on encapsulating the crawlspace and he found the mold.) This surprises me since I specifically had a mold person come out and check our house for mold before we bought it 3 years ago. We’ve had a huge dehumidifier down there the entire time. And now we have mold???
The fix is a huge out of pocket expense. I can’t even. It’s no wonder some people rent their whole lives. Who can afford to fix things?
This weekend I’m starting to inventory all the clothing that was lost due to people not believing me (see last week’s blog.) I have to say, I’m feeling pretty pissy pants. If you’re a praying sort, a sending of energy sort, or a well wisher sort, send it our way please!
So, instead of dwelling on that, lets do the memes shall we?
(And I think that’s what the current regime is counting on.)
FYI, the flu isn’t going away yet:
