My husband's police horse has an emotional support dog

Sep 09, 2023

Happy Saturday friends!

This week brought my friend and fellow coach Katie Neligan for a visit. She's been considering moving to NC from CO and she wanted to see if she could find a small farm with a house to rent for her, her two horses, and 4 goats. She found...nothing :-( But we did have a lovely visit!

We haven't seen her since we left 2 years ago. We told the all the animals that she was coming and they were ready!

It was pretty obvious that they remembered her ❤️

ODDS AND ENDS:

I thought I should explain the title of my post next lol. I'm known for my crazy dreams and I had a dream last Friday that B-Rad had a police horse and he was leading him into a stall. Following them in was a beautiful Golden/Terrier cross with a scruffy face. The dog stayed with the horse when it was in a stall. Huuuuh? I told B-Rad I was going to title my next newsletter with this one!

I've been sent these two videos of old ads recently and it really made me wonder about the capabilities of my parent's generation lol:

It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your kids are?

Hug your kids dammit.

Maybe this is why we have helicopter parents now!

Lyme? Everything they tested for came back negative, including the tick! However, in "an abundance of caution" they want me to stay on the doxycycline for 4-6 weeks. Hmmm... After some research I found that if someone does have a tick borne disease, people often test positive a few weeks after a tick bite—and my blood test was a week after. I'm assuming this is why she wants me on it. Even with the doxy, the bite isn't fully healed, the headache isn't gone but at least the fever is!

I'm doing all the probiotic stuff, pills and eating foods with it. If you have ideas on what else to do to keep my stomach happy, let me know!

We went to see Gran Turismo this week and it was surprisingly good!

If you're into feel good movies, this is one for you! 16 year old ManChild gave it a thumbs up! Based on a true story too: gamer boy who loved the Gran Turismo racing game eventually turns pro. Really fun! The actual guy who the movie was about did all the stunts for the actor!

My brother Michael sent me this picture from...2018 maybe? We were in Nashville for a visit and he snapped this early morning picture of Mom and me lol, two peas in a pod! That is some crazy bedhead:

A few memories have popped up on facebook:

Conrad was my leased horse, he lasted just a couple of months before I realized that I needed a horse of my very own. Next week is the 11th anniversary of Rayn coming into my life!

Sweet Midgie:

Seriously missing the laughter of goat yoga—send "grow faster" thoughts to little Oliver the baby man goat!

Speaking of mini donkeys! When George the mini donkey gets the vet's okay he'll be moving here! We are going to give it a try and see how it goes. We will keep them separate for a bit—they can visit over the fence for a few days or however long it takes to get used to each other :-) We are excited!

B-Rad and I went to Saxapahaw Village (in an old rehabbed mill) on the Upper Haw River last Friday while ManChild was in school—a "day date!" That was the first river he went whitewater kayaking with on with us way back in 1998. It was fun to see the area again and how much it's grown! The mill was rehabbed about 15 years ago. They do lots of live music and there are a couple places to eat and some cute shops. We had the most amazing burgers at The General Store—wow! Go check it out and tell me what you think of the area! There are also a few easy walking trails around the river too:

If you're wondering about the color of the water, well yes, it's usually like that. We have red clay here and the rivers are full of it. If you want clear, you have to go to the mountains. It's often stained with tannins but you can see through it!

THE RANCH:

Guess what's right around the corner:

This made B-Rad and I laugh out loud. It was a good 2.5 inches long. Probably a Hobo Spider. Zoom in just above his happy place sign. Needless to say that sign belongs to the spider now because it's sure not my happy place anymore! Daughter Nichole would say, "Burn the house to the ground!" lol No worries, I just cleaned the area up and he left. I don't mind spiders for the most part as long as they stay outside. But this one was too big to be so close to the house!:

They grow the bugs BIG here! The horses have learned to stand very still so I can smack the horseflies and then squash them with my boot. They are about 1.5 inches long. This one was full of Wynter's blood, grrrr:

Goose down in the morning grass:

"What?"

Remember those African Violet babies I've been trying to grow from my Mom's big plant? This is the one that's actually making it! The two outer leaves were first and now it has a little rosette of real leaves, darling. Those little leaves are only an eighth of an inch 🥰
