Playing in Watercolor, "Nettle"

Apr 24, 2020

Watercolor, 8x10 (sold)

I'm not sure I will ever get enough of these baby goat portraits! The brightness fits their colorful personalities. This is Nettle. She was a 2019 baby at the Mother Ranch. She was sold to a friend who then boards her here so we still get to see her sweet face everyday! She actually is colorful for a goat, she is white, tan, and black and has the most strikingly beautiful face. She is a Denali baby. If you've been hanging out in the real or virtual world of the Mother Ranch, you know that Denali is my girl.

I love all of my goats but Denali has that extra special something , you know? Last year Denali had her first babies, Baby Bilbo Baggins, Nettle, and Poppy.

Bilbo was too tiny to stand and nurse so he was taken care of by friends until he could go off to his new home.

Next came Nettle. She and Bilbo had very similar markings!

And last was Poppy. His boy bits were hiding so I thought he was a girl for a few days, thus the name! He is now the studliest of all the boys though :-) We kept him for breeding.

This time she was bred to a different buck and still had beautifully colored babies, two with similar faces to Bilbo and Nettle! It must just be a Denali thing!

Here are Denali's babies from this year, triplets again!

Jake, he looks a lot like his dad Velvet Kiss. He is available!

Marbles, fabulous coloring! We will be keeping her :-)

Sprinkles, another beautifully colored girl. She is available! Also, I think I will have to do another watercolor from this photo, don't you think?

Love to all from the Mother Ranch,

Julia
