Faith, Speed, Overwhelm, and Universal Cogs

Oct 14, 2020

Whoohoo! After a month's search and talking to four realtors, we finally chose one that fits us best. She came in with strong comps and a full marketing plan that we really liked.

And now comes the hard work...

Our open concept kitchen, living room, dining room has been measured for new flooring, granite counters, new sinks, tile back splash, and carpet on the steps. Our house has 3 sets of steps and they are the only thing carpeted in the entire house. We decided to stay with that as it makes the stairs a little safer than hard surface. This will all be completed by others thank goodness. We have painters coming next week to start painting the entire downstairs and some of my work space upstairs—goodbye to my fun and artsy multicolored walls! I'm hoping he can give us a good deal on painting the last two barns yellow, Brad's time would be better spent other ways.

We have to declutter for our listing photos which means getting rid of tons of stuff, boxing things we want to keep, and many trips to Goodwill—while working full time, homeschooling, and getting the outside of the ranch ready as well.

I'm feeling completely overwhelmed and nearly incapacitated. What is your go to when you are overwhelmed? For me it's eating, sleeping, crying, staring at the TV/phone. Not very useful is it? :-/

Selling a house is always overwhelming to me, but this is just over the top. I guess the two biggest issues are faith and speed. In my good moments, I have faith that this will all work out, but when I'm overwhelmed it all goes to hell, "How in the world will this all work out and come together at the right time on the other end and how long will it take to get it on the market in the first place?!"

I want it on the market now.

And what popped into my mind as I typed that was, "Your buyer isn't quite ready yet. When you're ready, they'll be ready."

Sigh. Well then. I guess that's useful Miss Inner Voice. I'll go make myself a list and just start doing as much as I can, when I have the time to do it. And to the point above, our farm in NC probably isn't quite ready either—we've found a few that are interesting but we aren't yet in a position to do anything about them. Maybe our new house isn't quite ready to be listed either!

Back to faith again. The cogs in the machine that is the Universe/God are clicking along, getting ready to align perfectly, I will just keep marching toward the goal and let everything sort itself out. Not my job to do more (which seems to be a theme in my life lately.)

Love to all from the Mother Ranch,

Julia
