I want everyone to be able to use this website. I am working to make it easy to use with a screen reader, with only a keyboard, and with larger text.
What I have done so far
- Added written descriptions (alt text) to the images on my main pages and on every blog post.
- Made the text and link colors easier to read.
- Made sure the page can be zoomed in.
- Labeled the search box and signup form so a screen reader can read them.
- Changed vague link wording like "click here" to say what the link does.
- Turned off blog comments, because the comment box was not labeled for screen readers.
Automated check
On October 21, 2026 I ran an automated accessibility checker (axe-core) against the WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA rules. These are the standard rules for web accessibility. The checker found no failures on my main pages and on the blog posts I sampled. An automated check cannot find every problem, and it is not the same as testing by people who use screen readers. I am looking for people to test the site.
What is still in progress
I am still tidying the order of headings on a few pages. If you cannot read an image description or want more detail about a photo, email me and I will send you a written description.
Tell me about a problem
If something on this site is hard for you to use, or you need information in another format, please email me at julia@TheMotherRanch.com. Please tell me which page it is and what happened. I will reply within 3 business days.
